The State Aviation Museum of Ukraine is the youngest and, at the same time, the largest historical museum of the country’s technical history. It was established in 2003, and its opening crowned the major date – 100th anniversary of world aviation.

It was established in 2003, and its opening crowned the major date – 100th anniversary of world aviation. Museum is located at the territory of the former Educational Air Base of KIIGA (now NAU), and aircrafts assigned to Base became the core of its collection. However, started with only 30 machines, today Zhulyany owns the exposition of nearly 70 aircraft and helicopters: AN -71 /Aircraft RLND/, An-24t /Light transport aircraft/, An-2 /Multipurpose aircraft/, Il-86 /Wide-body passenger plane/, Il-76 /Operational-strategic military transport plane/, Il-62 /Long-haul passenger airplane/, Su-20 /Aircraft/, Su-24 /Frontline bomber/, Su-25 /Low-flying attack aircraft/, МiG-29 /Frontline fighter (“9-12”)/, МiG-27k /Fighter-bomber (“32-26”)/, Historical Yak2, Historical Anatra-Anasal, Tu-154 /Regional passenger airliner/, Tu-22M-2 /Long-range missile carrier/bomber (“45-02”)/, Tu-22M-0 /Long-range missile carrier/bomber (“45-00”)/, Tu-142M3 /Long-range anti-submarine plane, Anti-submarine plane of long-range action Tu-142МZ was the biggest one not only in marine aviation of the USSR, but also in the world: scope of its wings – almost 50 meters, and the general capacity of four engines – 60 thousand horsepower! It is intended for search and destruction of submarines with nuclear rockets on open spaces of world ocean.
