One of the more memorable experiences in Ukraine
I had a great time on this trip. The driver who picked us up from our apartment was punctual and spoke great English. He helped us out (a lot!) during lunch breaks by translating our food requests into Ukranian. It is quite a long drive there and back, but the car was comfortable and the driver engaged in interesting conversations throughout the trip. At the missile base the English speaking guide was truly wonderful, very knowledgeable and had a great accent! The missile silo remains to a large extent quite functional, and it was amazing to initiate the launch sequence. All in all, a great trip and well worth the cost considering how far away from Kiev the base actually is!

Excellent Private Tour of the Missile Base!
Military Tour of Track Riding SA-13 GOPFER and Missile Base
Oleg picked me up at my hotel on time, and we began our 3.5 hour journey to the missile base. He was an excellent driver and knew enough English for us to communicate the necessities. We stopped in both directions for much needed short comfort breaks, as the roads were not in the best state of repair, but most of the trip (3 hours) was on the freeway.

At the base, I was turned over to the very capable hands of Elena at the museum. She was such a pleasant lady – a local from the area. She had a wealth of information that was well received. After touring the museum, we took an outside tour of the base. There was no question I asked that she could not answer.

Then came the decent into the missile silo itself. Only way down was by tiny (but safe) elevator. Seeing the living space and the control room was amazing, and sitting in the chair where soldiers sat for decades waiting on the call to launch was surreal.
After the trip “down under,” it was time for a ride in the Gopher. It was a blast and well worth the additional cost. Elena was there on the ground and took lots of pictures and videos for me.
Then ready for the ride back to Kiev, where Oleg dropped me off at my hotel safe and sound. Thank you to both Oleg and Elena for giving me this outstanding “once in a lifetime” experience. I highly recommend this incredible tour!

You come in places that are still forbidden in some parts of the world that use the same system. They made the museum to an experience.
