Tour to Mezhyhirya Residence – the former countryside residence of Viktor Yanukovych, a position of President held from 25 February 2010 to 22 February 2014, private residence is near Kyiv in the village Novie Petrivtsi on the right bank of the Dnieper river upper the sity Vushgorod. Great trip to Yanukovych Residence – excellent guide!
On a sunny Saturday holiday weekend the approach road was lined with parked cars and the grounds were packed with people enjoying the weather, including picnics on the 9 hole golf course, now no longer used for golf.
You can make it here on your own with public transport or a walk, or get an uber, but the best way is to organise a tour from Kiev. The tour will arrange transport there and back and include a guide. It is possible to go inside the honka (the log cabin house) for a fee – there is a telephone number on the door to arrange a tour, but the 2 guides only speak Ukrainian. Our excellent English speaking guide, Helena, has done this tour 100 times and gave us lots of history of the political system, the corruption and the current issues affecting Ukraine.
I would thoroughly recommend Argotour, who organised this for us at short notice and got us access to the house even though we were late because of bad Kiev holiday traffic.

Although you can certainly get yourself to the “House of Corruption,” it would be difficult to see it on your own unless you speak Ukrainian. Our guide knew what exactly where to be and when, in order to beat the crowds. He was also very knowledgeable about the house, the grounds, and Ukrainian history in general–which was great, because we were full of questions!

We had a tour with Argotour. Sorry I don’t remember our guides name but he was an excellent guide. Very informative. He could explain a lot to us. Gave us a lot of background info so we could appreciate the amount of corruption there was in the higher levels of gov. And the new for change.
Die Anlage ist mehrere Hektar groß und es gibt eine Menge zu sehen. Es besteht die Möglichkeit, ein Golf- Kart zu mieten. Für die Hauptunterkunft wird extra Eintritt fällig, was daran liegt das sich die gesamte Anlage wegen dem unklaren Status nach der Flucht des Hausherren während der Revolution nur durch die Touristeneintrittsgelder finanziert. Die Führungen im Wohnsitz werden von 2 einheimischen Aktivisten (wechselseitig) durchgeführt. Man erhält (entsprechende Sprachkenntnisse vorausgesetzt) einen sehr guten Einblick in die Situation der Leute heute vor Ort sowohl wie auch der Ukraine im Allgemeinen. Eine engagierte Führerin (wie in meinem Fall) die sehr gut deutsch sprechen kann, übersetzt und kann alle offenen Fragen beantworten. Transfer erfolgte mit dem Auto, da die Anlage ca. 15 km nördlich von Kiew liegt.

I would highly recommend this day trip from Kyiv for anyone. It is such an eye opener and so astonishing to see the extravagant waste and corruption of the Yanukovich regime at the cost of the Ukrainian people. It’s pretty disgusting (not to mention tasteless) and is really important for people to understand.
