The Lavra, a large monastery with 28 hectares of land, got this title in 1688. Review of the Monastery constructions, galleries of the Near and Far Caves, museums including the museum of historic treasures of Ukraine, other exhibits. One of the most famous Kiev attractions, founded in 1051 by monks Antoniy and Feodosiy for enchanting and expansion of new religion – Christianity. The complex of Kiev-Pecherskaya Lavra Monastery includes Nearby and Far-off caves, the Church of the Savior on Berestove, Holy Trinity Gate Church, St Nicholas’ Church and the Great Lavra Belfry, the highest in Ukraine (96,6), fully reconstructed Assumption Cathedral. The majority of the structures is built in the Ukrainian Baroque style. The ensemble is organically linked to the relief and forms a beautiful and majestic silhouette of Kiev from the Dnipro river side. Just spectacular. Stay in front of this monument and admire the architecture. Difficult to take pictures, you need a wide angle lens.
Excellent architecture and history tour!
I (Thene) was on a business trip to Kyiv in February, and chose to take a tour on a Saturday of the Pechersk Lavra Monastery. It was about 10 degrees and super cold, snowy, but my colleague and I loved this tour! Katrina was our guide as we walked all around the complex. We walked the covered bridge walkway to the old cave entrance. We toured the underground tunnels with a thin candle, seeing the old abbots and monks laid out for eternity. We visited the miniature museum (on the grounds), climbed a b-zillion stairs to the bell tower, and checked out the old dining hall attached to one of the churches. After exiting the bell tower, a church service was starting in the church nearby, and we even tucked in to hear the chanting monks. It was quite enjoyable in spite of the snow and cold, and Katrina had a long list of stories to tell about the founding of the site, and the ongoing saintly monks. I am so grateful that I took the opportunity to visit this site, and hope you’ll consider it for your next trip to Kyiv.

This tour exceeded my expectations. We only had one full day in Kiev, and opted to book this tour as we had heard the Pechersk Monastery was a must see. We were picked up in a private vehicle at our hotel, and our very friendly guide (I believe her name was Slava) educated us on Ukranian history and culture during the drive to the Monastery. She had extensive knowledge of the Monastery’s history, which made the experience so much richer than it would have been if we had gone by ourselves. When our guide heard that we only had one day to explore the city, she took the time to draw out a walking route for us on a map, and gave us suggestions on the most important things to see. She went above and beyond what we expected, and it made our short stay a memorable one. I highly recommend this tour!
A must have for every visitor in Kiev!
This place is really unique and gives you an excellent insight of a world of its own. You can literally feel the power of silence in these historical buildings.

Auch auf Wünsche und Fragen gut eingegangen. Diese geführte Tour durch das Höhlenkloster ist jedenfalls sehr zu empfehlen.
Da in der Gruppe sich nur der Guide und ich befanden, waren wir in der Gestaltung des Tages sehr frei. Es wurde eine Menge an Informationen gegeben und ich habe mich gut aufgehoben und betreut gefühlt. Ein tolles Erlebnis, wenn man mal etwas privater eine Besichtigung machen will. Die Eintrittsgelder müssen sowohl für den Guide als auch man selber bezahlt werden, man kann hier aber mit unter 10 Euro für zwei Personen rechnen. Da wir sehr schnell durch das Kloster gekommen sind und noch etwas Zeit übrig war, hat mich der Guide auch noch durch die Stadt begleitet und quasi eine kleine Stadtrundführung hinten dran gehangen. Auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen für kleine Gruppen oder Leute die einfach mal ganz in Ruhe Kultur genießen wollen

Great guide and fascinating tour.
Wonderful tour with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. We went into places we’d not have had the confidence on our own to go into whilst she explained the history and everything we were looking at. The catacombs were fascinating and she was kind enough to point out extra things to go and look at in our free time after. Highly recommend – defn worth booking thank you!!
